Dialysis is one of the most common treatments currently available for kidney failure and similar health problems. Until recently, one popular dialysis treatment used GranuFlo, a dry acid concentration designed to remove toxins from the bloodstream.
However, after the FDA anonymously received an internal document from its producer, Fresenius, stating that GranuFlo and a similar product were linked to 941 instances of cardiac arrest in 2010, it launched an investigation into the products’ safety. Based on the results of the investigation, the FDA issued a Class 1 recall of GranuFlo in 2012.
Other complications resulting from the high levels of bicarbonate in GranuFlo include:
- Low Blood Pressure
- Cardiac Arrhythmia
- Heart Attack
- Metabolic Alkalosis
- Sudden Death
If you or a loved one have suffered from any of these side effects after being treated with GranuFlo, you may be entitled to compensation for your pain, suffering and losses. At Chenkin Law Firm, we can help you take legal action against Fresenius to hold them accountable for their dangerous medical product and negligent practices.
